Broncos TE Noah Fant has done ‘a great job’ at training camp

The Broncos wrapped up training camp on Saturday afternoon. The team will face the 49ers on Monday and then settle into a practice schedule similar to what Denver will do during the regular season.

Midway through preseason, rookie tight end Noah Fant has shown progress in his development.

“I think Noah has done a great job,” offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello said after practice Friday. “Coach Vic Fangio has had a great plan to work us hard, but give them rest when they need it so their bodies can come back and a guy like Noah has had to take a lot of reps because he is a rookie to learn and because we’ve had some injuries.

“I think that wore him down a little at times. He’s trying to learn and think and play. I think [the game is] slowing down. I think he’s playing faster. I thought in the Seattle game he really took a step forward. We’ve got to continue to take steps forward and I think we’re got ourselves a heck of a tight end.”

Fant is poised to be one of the team’s top two tight ends along with Jeff Heuerman in 2019. Eventually, the Broncos would like Fant to emerge as a No. 1 TE. He’s well on his way to making that happen.
