Broncos spoke with WR Justin Jefferson at NFL combine

The Denver Broncos had an informal meeting with LSU wide receiver Justin Jefferson at the NFL combine last week, according to The Athletic‘s Nicki Jhabvala. NFL teams are allowed to have 18-minute interviews with 45 players at the combine — Denver’s conversation with Jefferson was not one of those formal interviews.

Jefferson (6-1, 202 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds and had a vertical jump 37.5 inches at the combine. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein noted that Jefferson’s production with the Tigers improved when he played in the slot.

Jefferson is “slippery in space and able to stab and save throws with quick hands and fluid body adjustments,” according to Zierlein.

During his final two seasons at LSU, Jefferson caught 165 passes for 2,415 yards and 24 touchdowns. He had an 18-TD season in 2019.

Jefferson is the seventh-best WR in this year’s class, according to Luke Easterling’s 2020 NFL draft big board for Draft Wire. Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy (No. 8) and Henry Ruggs (No. 12), Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb (No. 9), Colorado’s Laviska Shenault (No. 25), TCU’s Jalen Reagor (No. 33) and  Clemson’s Tee Higgins (No. 36) are the WRs ranked above Jefferson.

The draft will be held in Las Vegas from April 23-25.
