Broncos spoke with TE Dalton Keene at NFL combine

The Denver Broncos had an informal meeting with Virginia Tech tight end Dalton Keene at the NFL combine, according to The Denver Post‘s Ryan O’Halloran. NFL teams are allowed to have 18-minute interviews with 45 players at the combine — Denver’s conversation with Keene was not one of those formal interviews.

Keene (6-4, 253 pounds) has been dubbed a Swiss Army Knife by NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein, praised for his ability to play “in-line, as a wingback, from the slot, as a fullback, and even as a personal protector in pass protection.” He sounds similar to Broncos tight end/fullback Andrew Beck.

During his three years with the Hokies, Keene caught 59 passes for 748 yards and eight touchdowns. He also rushed 11 times for 33 yards.

Keene is not among the top 15 tight ends ranked by Draft Wire’s Luke Easterling. He is likely considered a late-round or undrafted free agent prospect. Denver is projected to have three selections in the seventh round of the draft this year.
