Broncos skipper Glenn out for 3-4 weeks

Brisbane's horror NRL Darwin road trip has just got worse with scans confirming captain Alex Glenn is facing at least a month on the sidelines.

The New Zealand international injured his calf in the warm-up to Friday's clash with Parramatta at TIO Stadium, before the Broncos slumped to a 46-6 hammering by the Eels.

Brisbane confirmed on Sunday that scans had shown the 32-year-old had suffered a grade two tear.

"The injury will require three to four weeks of rehab before Alex can return to full training," Broncos' head of performance Andrew Croll said

Glenn's latest setback comes after an injury-marred 2020 campaign where the backrower could only manage eight games in his first season as captain due to hamstring and knee setbacks, as well as a laceration that required surgery.

That came after having only missed 24 games from a possible 283 heading into last season, playing 20 or more matches in his 11 seasons prior to 2020.

Glenn is one of several Broncos' players who are off-contract at the end of the season, amid reports coach Kevin Walters is preparing to undergo an overhaul of the club's underperforming squad.
