Broncos signed 2 players, including a best friend of Bradley Chubb

After placing tight end Bug Howard (ankle) and cornerback Horace Richardson (back/hamstring) on injured reserve Wednesday, the Broncos were left with two open spots on the 90-man offseason roster.

The two spots have been filled by linebacker Dadi Nicolas and rookie offensive tackle Tyler Jones, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis.

Jones (6-3, 306 pounds) was roommates and teammates with outside linebacker Bradley Chubb during his time at N.C. State and he told the Broncos’ official website in February that he considers Chubb his best friend.

Jones bench-pressed 225 pounds 23 times at the combine earlier this year and NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein wrote that he “has the athletic ability to transition inside as a zone guard, but he needs to add mass and improve his core strength in order to find playing time on the next level.”

Nicolas (6-3, 235 pounds) entered the league as a sixth-round pick out of Virginia Tech with the Chiefs in 2016. He went on to spend time with the Seahawks, Redskins and Colts before landing in Denver.

Nicolas, 26, appeared in 11 games with Kansas City as a rookie. He spent most of his time on special teams but did break up one pass on defense. Nicolas is entering his third year in the NFL.
