Broncos sign three players

The Denver Broncos confirmed Monday that the team has brought back defensive lineman Billy Winn. The team also announced the signings of two other players: defensive lineman Mike Purcell and offensive lineman Jake Rodgers.

Purcell and Rodgers participated in minicamp last week on a tryout basis, according to The Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala.

Purcell (6-3, 327 pounds) is a Colorado native who played college football at Wyoming. He signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent following the 2013 NFL draft.

After spending the first three years of his career in San Francisco, Purcell went on to spend time with the Los Angeles Rams, Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs and the Salt Lake Stallions, a former AAF team. The 28-year-old defender has dressed for 25 NFL games and has totaled 42 tackles and one sack.

Rodgers (6-6, 320 pounds) entered the league as a seventh-round pick out of Eastern Washington with the Atlanta Falcons in 2015. He went on to spend time with the Panthers, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens. He is 27 years old.

Rodgers is yet to dress for a regular season NFL game.
