Broncos sign LB Justin Hollins to 4-year contract

The Denver Broncos have signed linebacker Justin Hollins to a four-year contract, the team announced Tuesday. Denver selected the Oregon linebacker in the fifth round (pick No. 156) of April’s draft.

Hollins (6-5, 248 pounds) signed a four-year deal worth $2,926,896, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. His contract included a $306,896 signing bonus that’s fully guaranteed.

Hollins had a productive senior season with the Ducks in 2018, totaling 64 tackles, 6.5 sacks, one interceptuon, six pass breakups and five forced fumbles. He played outside linebacker in college but Denver will have him practice playing both outside and inside positions.

“It’s a credit to the type of kid he is,” Broncos defensive coordinator Ed Donatell said on May 11. “You usually don’t do that with a young player. He had a really good background, similar background with the defense he played in college.

“[Outside linebackers coach] Brandon Staley came to us with the idea. He thought he could get it done. He’s done a great job getting him ready. It’s been some productive days to see him and just get an idea how he can possibly help our defense at a couple positions.”

Hollins’ versatility will greatly improve his chances of getting on the field as a rookie. It sounds like his transition to the pros has gone smoothly so far.
