Broncos to sign former Texans defensive back Kareem Jackson to 3-year contract

The Houston Texans have lost another member of their secondary to an AFC West club.

The Denver Broncos have reached a three-year agreement with defensive back Kareem Jackson, signing the former 2010 first-round pick to a contract worth $33 million with $23 million guaranteed.

Jackson was one of the Texans’ Pro Bowl alternates in 2018 with 87 combined tackles, 1.0 sack, five tackles for loss, 17 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery, all of which were new or matched previous career-highs. The former Alabama Crimson Tide recorded two interceptions during his 16 starts, playing a combination of cornerback and safety.

With the departure of Mathieu and now Jackson, the needs of the secondary continue to be underscored in free agency and the draft.
