Broncos sign DL Dre’Mont Jones to 4-year contract

The Denver Broncos have signed rookie defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones, Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle first reported Monday. The four-year deal is worth $4.188 million and includes a $1.066 million signing bonus.

Jones (6-3, 281 pounds) was selected by the Broncos in the third round of April’s draft after recording 43 tackles (including 13 tackles for losses) and 8.5 sacks at a senior at Ohio State. He is expected to compete for a rotational role on Denver’s defensive line this summer.

Jones is the fourth member of the Broncos’ 2019 draft class that the team has signed so far, joining tight end Noah Fant, linebacker Justin Hollins and wide receiver Juwann Winfree.

Projections from Spotrac.com predict that Jones will have a salary cap hit of $760,585 in 2019. Denver still has to sign offensive lineman Dalton Risner and quarterback Drew Lock, who are projected to have salary cap hits of $1,295,534 and $1,271,722, respectively.

The Broncos should have a little more than $2 million in remaining salary cap space after signing their entire draft class.
