Broncos select WR Jerry Jeudy in first round of NFL Draft

The Denver Broncos selected Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy with the 15th overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft on Thursday evening.

Jeudy (6-1, 193 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash in 4.45 seconds and ran a 20-yard shuttle in 4.53 seconds at the combine earlier this offseason. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has compared Jeudy to Santonio Holmes, who was named the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII in 2009.

“His transition from deep threat to volume target in 2019 should help sell teams on his ability to become a Pro-Bowl caliber WR1 who can help his offense on all three levels,” Zierlein wrote of Jeudy before the draft.

During his final two seasons with the Crimson Tide, Jeudy caught 145 passes for 2,478 yards and 24 touchdowns. Jeudy was the best receiver in this year’s class, according to Luke Easterling’s post-combine rankings on Draft Wire.

Jeudy will join Courtland Sutton in Denver to give young quarterback two star receivers to throw to. Lock also has a talented tight end in Noah Fant and two Pro Bowl running backs in Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay. It’s safe to say the Broncos are setting Lock up for success.
