Broncos select OL Dalton Risner in 2019 NFL draft

With the 41st overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos selected offensive lineman Dalton Risner.

Risner (6-5, 312 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash and bench-pressed 225 pounds 23 times at the combine earlier this offseason. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has compared Risner to Cody Whitehair, who was a second-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft.

A Wiggins, Colorado native, Risner is a Broncos fan and wanted to be selected by the team. Needless to say, he was pretty excited about being drafted by his hometown team.

Risner played mostly offensive tackle and center in college but Denver is expected to play him at guard. After losing center Matt Paradis during free agency, the Broncos are expected to move Connor McGovern to center.

With McGovern moving to center, Risner may be penciled in as the team’s new starting right guard.

The Broncos have two more selections on Day 2 of the draft: No. 52 in the second round and No. 71 in the third round. Denver will then have five selections on Day 3 of the draft (view their complete draft order here).
