Broncos RT Ja’Wuan James (knee) won’t return vs. Colts

Denver Broncos right tackle Ja’Wuan James left Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts with a knee injury in the second quarter. The team announced that James will not return to the game.

James injured his knee in Week 1 and was inactive for the last six games. Elijah Wilkinson was a fill-in starter from Weeks 2-7 and replaced James on Sunday afternoon.

With Jake Rodgers and Calvin Anderson inactive, the Broncos now have no backup offensive tackles available in Indianapolis. Austin Schlottmann will serve as the team’s backup guard, center and tackle.

James signed a four-year, $51 million contract with Denver in March. He’s been a good tackle when healthy but has struggled to stay on the field.

The Broncos currently lead the Colts 3-0 in the second quarter.
