Broncos reveal first depth chart of 2019 NFL season

The Broncos revealed their first depth chart of the 2019 NFL season on Monday. Fans should note that this is just their first version of the depth chart and it can — and will — change over the next few weeks.

Courtesy of the team, here’s a look at Denver’s first offensive depth chart (injured players are in brackets and rookies are underlined).

There aren’t really any surprises on the offensive line or at wide receiver but it seems notable that Jake Butt (who is currently injured) is listed as the fourth tight end. Butt seems to be fighting for a roster spot.

The running backs are sorted out just like they ended the 2018 season, with Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman serving as the top two backs and Devontae Booker handling third-down duties.

At quarterback, veteran Kevin Hogan is listed as the backup for now. If he struggles in preseason, Hogan could lose the No. 2 job to rookie Drew Lock.

Check out the first defensive and special teams depth charts after the jump.

It’s a good sign for DeMarcus Walker that he’s listed as a top backup defensive end and it looks like Alexander Johnson will be filling in for an injured Todd Davis over the next few weeks. In the secondary, Kareem Jackson is starting at strong safety. He can also play cornerback.

Finally, here’s a look at the team’s first special teams depth chart:

Right now, Booker and wide receiver River Cracraft are penciled in as the top returners. That may change if one of the speedy undrafted rookies end up making the 53-man roster.

Denver had to release a depth chart this week because their first preseason game is Thursday, a Hall of Fame Game showdown with the Falcons. That contest will be nationally televised on NBC.
