Broncos release updated depth chart for Week 1

After finalizing a 53-man roster and putting together a 10-man practice squad, the Denver Broncos had one item left on the agenda before facing the Oakland Raiders in Week 1: update the depth chart.

The Broncos released an updated depth chart Tuesday and there aren’t really any surprises. Here’s a look at the offensive depth chart, courtesy of the team’s PR department:

Elijah Wilkinson is by far the most important backup offensive lineman. He’s the only true backup offensive tackle on the active roster and he’s also a swing player, meaning he will serve as a backup guard as well.

Andrew Beck is listed both as a tight end and as a fullback. He’ll fill in for an Andy Janovich in the early weeks of the season.

Diontae Spencer appears to be a return specialist as he is listed as one of the last wide receivers on the depth chart.

Here’s a look at the defensive depth chart:

Denver has three rookies serving as first-choice backups up front: outside linebackers Justin Hollins and Malik Reed and defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones. All three players performed well in preseason.

If Todd Davis (calf) is not able to play in Week 1, Alexander Johnson is penciled in as the fill-in replacement starter.

And finally, a look at the special teams depth chart:

Devontae Booker gets the nod at kick returner with Spencer serving as his backup. Spencer will return punts with DaeSean Hamilton backing him up.

Monday’s game in Oakland will be nationally televised on ESPN.
