Broncos release safety Su’a Cravens

The Su’a Cravens experiment is over in Denver.

The Broncos released the safety Friday after he failed to impress new coach Vic Fangio and the team’s assistant coaches this summer.

Cravens (6-1, 224 pounds) entered the league as a second-round pick out of USC with the Redskins in 2016. He had an impressive rookie season, totaling 34 tackles, one sack, one interception and five pass breakups.

In 2017, Cravens suffered from post-concussion syndrome and told Washington he planned to retire. The Redskins talked him into continuing his career and placed him on reserve for the year.

Denver swapped late-round picks with Washington last March in a trade that sent Cravens to the Broncos. He played in five games last year before being placed on injured reserve with a knee injury. After sitting out the majority of the last two seasons, Cravens was a longshot to make the 2019 roster.

Cravens, 24, totaled 10 tackles and forced one fumble in preseason.
