Broncos ready for joint practices with 49ers

Before playing the 49ers on “Monday Night Football” in Week 2 of NFL preseason, the Broncos will host their opponent for joint training camp practices on Friday and Saturday.

“I must have done more than 40 of these over the years and it’s just great to go against somebody else,” coach Vic Fangio said after practice on Aug. 11.

“Offensive lineman having to block different pass rushers and run block different d-linemen. Corners covering different receivers. Wide receivers going against different corners, different schemes. I think it’s great. I would do two of them a camp if I could.”

For Broncos players like running back Phillip Lindsay, the joint practices will present a nice change from the usual routine.

“It’s always good to see how they practice and a lot of us have friends on the team,” Lindsay said on Aug. 11. “It’s always good to reunite with them. Just battle. Other than beat up on each other all day, going against somebody that doesn’t know our plays and isn’t familiar with us all the time.”

Monday’s game (6:00 p.m. MT) will be nationally televised on ESPN.
