Broncos re-sign TE Jeff Heuerman to 2-year deal

The Denver Broncos have re-signed tight end Jeff Heuerman to a two-year contract with a max value of $9 million, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. If he can max out his contract’s value, Heuerman will earn an average of $4.5 million per season.

Heuerman, 26, is likely the No. 1 tight end on the team’s depth chart at the moment. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the team add more depth to the position through the draft.

Heuerman (6-5, 254 pounds) was selected by the team in the third round of the 2015 NFL draft out of Ohio State. He’s never quite lived up to his draft status but Heuerman was arguably the team’s best tight end in 2018.

After missing his entire rookie season with a torn ACL, Heuerman missed four games in 2016 and two games in 2017 with various injuries. He managed to stay healthy for 11 games last season.

In 2018, Heuerman hauled in 31 receptions for 281 yards and two touchdowns. He owns 49 receptions for 564 yards and four touchdowns in his career.

Heuerman gives the team four tight ends on the roster. He joins Jake Butt, Troy Fumagalli and Temarrick Hemingway.
