Broncos RB Phillip Lindsay agrees to race OLB Bradley Chubb

Before he was selected by the Denver Broncos fifth overall in last year’s NFL draft, former N.C. State edge defender Bradley Chubb ran a 4.65-second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine. Chubb tweeted Saturday that he didn’t want to run slow in front of so many cameras:

Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay (who wasn’t invited to the combine) seemingly questioned the validity of his teammate’s 40-time, tweeting that it looked closer to a 4.99-second 40-yard dash.

Chubb responded with a challenge to race him.

Lindsay quickly agreed to a race.

On paper, Lindsay appears to be a big favorite in this race. At Colorado’s pro day last year, the running back ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash, according to Anthony Kazmierczak of RalphieReport.com. That would have been the second-best time among RBs at the combine last year.

There’s been no word yet if Lindsay and Chubb have set up a date for the race. If it does happen, hopefully teammates will post it on social media. In 2016, outside linebackers DeMarcus Ware and Shane Ray put $10,000 in the line for a head-to-head race.

The results of that race were disputed, but it looks like Ray won.
