Broncos RB Melvin Gordon: Drew Lock ‘seems like a great quarterback’

After signing a two-year deal with the Broncos, running back Melvin Gordon will join a young offense that features quarterback Drew Lock, tight end Noah Fant, wide receiver Courtland Sutton, running back Phillip Lindsay and guard Dalton Risner.

The most important part of Denver’s offense is Lock — if he doesn’t play well, the entire offense will suffer. From what he’s seen, Gordon has gotten the impression that Lock has promise.

“I’ve watched as much film as I can on him,” Gordon said during a conference call with reporters on March 27. “I’ve watched his highlights. You can only see so much from YouTube angles, but he seems like a great quarterback.”

NFL teams have postponed offseason workouts because of COVID-19 so Lock won’t get to meet Gordon anytime soon but when they do get together, the running back will aim to get on the same page with his new quarterback.

“He seems like a smart guy, bright guy when he talks in his interviews . . . . I’m excited to work with him,” Gordon said. “I’m going to tell him some things that I like as far as when I’m back there and pick his brain a little bit. Every quarterback is different. We’re just going to have to learn how to adapt with each other and play as one out there.”

Lock went 4-1 as a starter in Denver’s final five games last season.
