Broncos ranked No. 21 in summer NFL power rankings

In his summer NFL power rankings for Touchdown Wire, Doug Farrar has the Denver Broncos ranked No. 21 out of 32 teams.

Mark Schofield, one of Farrar’s teammates at Touchdown Wire, ranked Denver at No. 24 in his most recent agency power rankings. Farrar is slightly more optimistic about the Broncos’ prospects in 2020.

After surrounding quarterback Drew Lock with talent, Denver’s offense is poised to take a step forward this season — if Lock is up to the task.

“Now, it’s up to Lock to curtail his rogue tendencies, add a reliable short and intermediate passing game to his deep-ball heroics, and perhaps the Broncos can have their first above-average quarterback since Peyton Manning retired,” Farrar wrote on Touchdown Wire.

Manning retired after he won Super Bowl 50 with Denver in 2015 and the Broncos have failed to reach the playoffs in the four seasons since then. Lock and Co. will look to end that streak this year.
