Broncos ranked low in post-draft NFL power rankings

In his post-draft NFL power rankings, Nate Davis of USA TODAY Sports has the Denver Broncos ranked No. 26, the seventh-worst team in the league.

“When you’re probably going to struggle to keep pace in division, was adding another quarterback the right move at the expense of fortifying supporting cast?” Davis wrote as his commentary with Denver’s ranking.

That doesn’t seem like a very fair statement considering that the Broncos traded down in the draft to land tight end Noah Fant and offensive lineman Dalton Risner before even selecting Lock.

Fant (a talented receiver) and Risner (an excellent blocker) certainly sound like a good supporting cast for Joe Flacco, a two-time Super Bowl champion. Davis’ low ranking for Denver seems a bit harsh.

The Broncos are the lowest-ranked team in the AFC West, trailing the Los Angeles Chargers (No. 2), Kansas City Chiefs (No. 8) and Oakland Raiders (No. 22). The New England Patriots are ranked No. 1 and the Miami Dolphins are ranked No. 32.

Thank goodness offseason power rankings are meaningless.
