Broncos ranked last in AFC West in pre-camp NFL power rankings

With training camp officially starting this week, now’s a good time to take a look at Mark Schofield’s summer NFL power rankings for Touchdown Wire.

Schofield has the Denver Broncos ranked No. 23 out of 32 teams. Denver is the lowest-ranked team in the AFC West, behind the Las Vegas Raiders (No. 17), Los Angeles Chargers (No. 16) and Kansas City Chiefs (No. 1).

Schofield said the Broncos have a “potentially scary” 11 personnel WR group with Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton on the outside and KJ Hamler in the slot. Adding tight end Noah Fant to the equation could make Denver’s offense a “tough group to defend,” Schofield wrote.

Yet, it seems that Schofield is not completely sold on second-year quarterback Drew Lock. Until the Broncos’ young QB proves himself, Schofield isn’t moving Denver up in power rankings.

“Until Lock performs at a level commensurate with the talent assembled around him, we’ll reserve judgment on moving them higher up the board.”
