Broncos QB Joe Flacco not worried about preseason playing time

Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco is about to enter his 12th season in the NFL and he’s not too worried about shaking off rust during preseason. Sure, the 34-year-old QB will play in preseason, but he doesn’t need a lot of reps to get ready for the regular season.

“Listen, I am going to feel comfortable Week 1,” Flacco said after practice Friday. “I’ve played in plenty of games throughout my career. I’ve had plenty of different coordinators. It’s really up to [offensive coordinator] Rich [Scangarello] and [coach] Vic [Fangio] to determine how much we’re going to play during this preseason.

“We still have three games left and that’s something that they will work out. Obviously, you want to just kind of get yourself through the pregame, go out there and get that first drive. Get yourself feeling like you’re playing football games again. But other than that, I’ve played a ton of games.

“I think it’s more about our collective group as a whole and just getting some confidence under our belt in live action.”

Flacco made his preseason debut last week and played just one drive against the Seahawks. He went 3-of-4 for 19 yards, leading Denver to an early 3-0 lead in Seattle. Flacco will likely play against the 49ers on Monday and against the Rams on Aug. 24 but he probably won’t play in the team’s preseason finale.

Regardless of how many reps he gets in preseason, Flacco believes he will be ready to face the Raiders in Week 1 on Sept. 9.
