Denver Broncos quarterback Drew Lock injured his right throwing shoulder in the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers and went into the locker room to be further examined by the team’s medical staff.
Lock is questionable to return and he’s been replaced by Brett Rypien.
Before leaving the game, Lock went 2-of-5 passing for 15 yards. He also rushed once for six yards and was sacked once for -10 yards.
Lock started the game in the place of an injured Teddy Bridgewater, who has missed the last two weeks while recovering from a concussion.
Rypien started one game last year for the Broncos when Lock was injured, helping Denver defeat the New York Jets 37-28 on “Thursday Night Football.” He has completed 67.5% of his passes in his career with two touchdowns and four interceptions in three games (one start).
Broncos left guard Dalton Risner (elbow) also left in the first quarter and he is questionable to return. Denver is also missing cornerback Ronald Darby (shoulder), inside linebacker Kenny Young (concussion) and 12 other players who are out with COVID-19 this week.
