Broncos place OLB Randy Gregory, OL Billy Turner on PUP list

The Denver Broncos are placing two key players on the active/physically unable to perform list ahead of the start of training camp.

Broncos outside linebacker Randy Gregory (shoulder) will begin camp on the PUP list, according to a report from KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. Gregory will be joined on the list by offensive lineman Billy Turner (knee), per Klis.

Gregory signed a five-year, $70 million contract with Denver earlier this year. He’s expected to start across from Bradley Chubb once he recovers from an offseason shoulder procedure.

Turner signed a one-year deal with the Broncos in March after he was cut by the Green Bay Packers with a failed physical designation. Turner’s still working his way back from a knee injury he suffered during the 2021 season. Once healthy, Turner is expected to compete for the right tackle job.

Players placed on the active/PUP list before training camp are not eligible to practice, but they can be elevated off the list any time before the regular season begins.

If a player stays on the PUP list through preseason and is not elevated before the regular season, he then reverts to the reserve/PUP list and has to sit out the first six weeks of the season. Gregory and Turner are both expected to be back on the practice field well before Week 1.
