Broncos OLB Von Miller excited for MNF showdown with Raiders

The Denver Broncos have played on “Monday Night Football” in 27-straight seasons, one game short of an NFL record. This week, Denver will extend its streak with a MNF clash with the Oakland Raiders on Sept. 9.

The game will mark the eighth time that the Broncos and Raiders have faced off in Week 1. Denver owns a 5-2 record in the previous contests.

“Monday night historically for the Broncos has been great for our franchise,” outside linebacker Von Miller said Friday. “We’ve had a lot of Monday night games. We had a few Monday night openers. . . . I think we played them Monday night last year too as well, right? It’s just part of the tradition and it’s a hell of a way to start off the season, primetime football Monday night.”

Oakland and Denver have faced off on MNF 18 times and the Broncos own a 9-8-1 advantage in the series.

“We’re going to be ready to play and their organization is going to be ready to play as well,” Miller said. “It’s been historically like that so I’m excited to play on ‘Monday Night Football’ in front of everybody.”
