Broncos OL Dalton Risner used cattle wrangling experience to get Phillip Lindsay into the end zone

Facing a 4th-and-1 near the Packers’ goal line in the third quarter of Sunday’s game, Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay looked like he was going to be tackled short of the end zone.

Then offensive lineman Dalton Risner grabbed Lindsay and threw him into the end zone, securing a touchdown. The rookie tweeted after the game that it was just like “wrangling cattle.”

Though the play came in a losing effort, it was one of the highlights of the game for fans in Denver.

Risner grew up on a farm in Wiggins, Colorado before attending Kansas State. He was selected by the Broncos in the second round of this year’s draft and has been starting at left guard.

So far, Risner looks like an excellent draft pick.

Through three weeks of the season, Risner has not been penalized and has not allowed any sacks, according to STATS LLC. The 24-year-old guard appears poised to remain a key piece of the offensive line for years to come.

Perhaps more assisted-touchdown runs are in Risner’s future.
