Broncos OL coach Mike Munchak working with Garett Bolles

Broncos left tackle Garett Bolles was called for holding four times during Sunday’s 16-14 loss to the Bears. Since then, Bolles has spoken with offensive line coach Mike Munchak and many other coaches and teammates about cleaning up his play.

Fans in Denver can only hope those talks help.

“We talked to him extensively early in the week, Mike did the bulk of it,” Broncos coach Vic Fangio said Friday. “I talked to him a little bit. I’m sure he’s heard everybody else’s comments indirectly. He knows what he’s up against and what he has to do.”

NFL teams have accepted holding penalties called against Bolles 16 times since he entered the league in 2017. Denver outside linebacker Von Miller believes if there’s anyone that can help the left tackle, it’s Munchak.

“I don’t think you can get a better coach than Munchak,” Miller said Friday. “He has all the answers that you can possibly have as an offensive lineman. He’s had answers for me as well as a rusher, so I would just double down with coach. That’s been my message with him.

“Of course I give him my thoughts on everything, but I feel like coach Munchak — his opinion weights more than anybody’s opinion. He’s a great coach and he’ll get it figured out.”

Broncos offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello is confident Bolles will perform better in the coming weeks.

“In the end, he knows he’s got to play better, we know we’ve got to coach him better and we’ll get it fixed,” Scangarello said.
