Broncos’ offensive line ranked as 12th-best in the NFL

What a difference a few years can make.

The Broncos had countless offensive line problems in the first two years after Peyton Manning’s retirement before the unit finally showed signs of improvement last year. Entering the 2019 season, the squad looks so improved that Denver’s offensive line is considered one of the top 12 in the league.

The Broncos added right tackle Ja’Wuan James through free agency and selected left guard Dalton Risner during the draft. Those two additions helped the team’s offensive line earn a No. 12 ranking on Pro Football Focus’ list of the top offensive lines entering this season.

PFF had great things to say about Risner, who showed off his versatility during his time at Kansas State, playing tackle, guard and center.

“Risner earned 87.0-plus overall in all four years he started at Kansas State and pushed above 90.0 in overall grade and pass-blocking grade in his last year on campus,” PFF wrote alongside Denver’s ranking.

In addition to James and Risner, the other projected starters on the Broncos’ offensive line are Garett Bolles, Connor McGovern and Ron Leary. Under new offensive line coach Mike Munchak, that group of players will aim to live up to their pre-season hype in 2019.
