Before each Broncos game during preseason, we will provide a quick note on the storyline of the week along with a rookie to watch that week. Below are the notes for the Week 3 showdown with the Rams on Saturday evening.
Sanders returns: Eight months after he tore his Achilles last December, Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders was back on the field in last week’s preseason game against the 49ers. Denver got the received involved on offense right away and he appears to be completely healthy and ready for the regular season. Sanders received positive reviews for his 2019 debut.
Rookie watch: Broncos FB Andy Janovich will be sidelined 6-8 weeks with a pectoral injury, opening the door for undrafted rookie George Aston to make the 53-man roster. Broncos offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello likes to use fullbacks as receivers out of the backfield and Aston could prove to be a perfect fit. During his three years at Pittsburgh, Aston caught 45 passes for 277 yards and eight touchdowns.
