Broncos not expected to tender TE Matt LaCosse

The Denver Broncos have decided not to place a one-year, $2.025 million tender on tight end Matt LaCosse, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. LaCosse was eligible for a tender because he was a restricted free agent.

By not tendering him, the Broncos are allowing LaCosse to become an unrestricted free agent. It seems unlikely that he will return to Denver.

The Broncos appear likely to address the tight end position this offseason, perhaps both during free agency and in the draft.

Jake Butt and Troy Fumagalli will return this season but they have injury concerns. Jeff Heuerman is set to become an unrestricted free agent on March 13 and it’s unclear if Denver plans to re-sign him.

The Broncos signed LaCosse off the New York Giants’ practice squad late during the 2017 season. Playing on a $555,000 salary, LaCossee dressed for 15 games last year, earning five starts. He hauled in 24 receptions for 250 yards and one touchdown in 2018.
