Broncos not expected to tender Pro Bowl long snapper Casey Kreiter

The Denver Broncos are not expected to place a one-year, $2.025 million tender on Pro Bowl long snapper Casey Kreiter, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. Kreiter was eligible for a tender because he is a restricted free agent.

The Broncos’ decision not to tender Kreiter means the long snapper will become an unrestricted free agent. The move appears to be a financial decision for Denver.

Most veteran long snappers earn around $1 million per season — the Broncos don’t want Kreiter to earn double that. There’s still a chance that the team could re-sign him to a multi-year deal, according to Klis, but he’ll be allowed to test free agency.

Denver kicker Brandon McManus voiced support for Kreiter on Twitter, urging the team to bring back his long snapper.

Kreiter was named the long snapper for the AFC’s Pro Bowl roster last year after handling 146 snaps during the regular season with no mishaps. He earned $630,000 in 2018 and has earned a total of $1,621,500 through four years in the NFL.
