Broncos met with TE Noah Fant at NFL combine

The Denver Broncos had a formal meeting with Iowa tight end Noah Fant at the NFL combine on Friday evening, according to The Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala.

Fant (6-5, 241 pounds) hauled in 30 receptions for 494 and 11 touchdowns in 2017 and caught 39 passes for 519 yards and 7 scores in 2018. His 17 career touchdowns mark a school record among Iowa tight ends.

Fant is the No. 1 tight end in this year’s class, according to Luke Easterling of Draft Wire (view the complete rankings here). He is projected to be a first-round pick, so Denver might have to trade back into the first round to land him (assuming the team won’t select him 10th overall).

“He makes some incredibly athletic catches with his strong hands and adjustments when at full speed,” Draft Wire’s Gavino Borquez wrote of the tight end. “Fant will need to get better at in-line blocking, where he has gotten handled due to lack of technique and play strength.”

The Broncos will select 41st overall in the second round. Fant will likely already be off the board by that point in the draft.
