Broncos met with TE Kaden Smith at NFL combine

The Denver Broncos met with Stanford tight end Kaden Smith at the 2019 NFL combine, according to The Denver Post‘s Ryan O’Halloran.

Smith (6-5, 255 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.92 seconds and bench-pressed 225 pounds 15 times at the combine. He was named to the 2018 All-Pac-12 second team after his junior year and declared for the NFL draft.

During his two years with the Cardinal, Smith hauled in 70 receptions for 1,049 yards and seven touchdowns. He is the fourth-best tight end in this year’s class, according to rankings from Draft Wire.

“Smith has very strong hands and is lethal on 50-50 balls downfield, showing the strength at the catch point, and has ideal ball skills and body control,” Draft Wire’s Gavino Borquez wrote of the tight end in December. “Smith is strong after the catch and usually requires multiple players to bring him to the ground.”

With Jeff Heuerman hitting free agency and Jake Butt and Troy Fumagalli recovering from injuries, Denver could certainly use more depth at TE. Smith may be one of the prospects they’re considering.
