Broncos met with Notre Dame LB Drue Tranquill at Senior Bowl

The Denver Broncos spoke with Notre Dame linebacker Drue Tranquill after a practice at Senior Bowl last month, according to Draft Wire’s Gavino Borquez.

Tranquill (6-2, 235 pounds) was a two-time team captain (2017-2018) during his time with the Fighting Irish. He racked up 292 tackles — including 25.5 tackles for losses — and 5.5 sacks from 2014-2018. Tranquill also broke up 11 passes, intercepted three passes, recovered five fumbles and forced one fumble.

“When Tranquill plays off the ball, his pure speed is put on display, and he can fly,” Borquez wrote of the defender in December. “Also, he’s a screen-destroyer thanks to his quick play-recognition ability and twitchy athleticism. Tranquill has the ability to bend the edge, and he can be a problem when he’s sent after the quarterback.”

With Brandon Marshall’s future with the team uncertain, the Broncos would be wise to add depth to the inside linebacker position this offseason. Tranquill may be one of the potential players the team is considering.

Tranquill is the 13th-best inside linebacker in this year’s class, according to Charlie Campbell of WalterFootball.com. He is projected to be selected between the fourth and sixth rounds of April’s draft.
