Broncos met with North Carolina State WR Jakobi Meyers at Senior Bowl

The Denver Broncos met with North Carolina State wide receiver Jakobi Meyers at the Senior Bowl last month, according to Draft Wire’s Gavino Borquez. His first name is pronounced jah-KOE-bee.

Meyers (6-2, 203 pounds) rarely got on the field before his junior year with the Wolfpack, hauling in 92 receptions for 1,047 yards and four touchdowns last season. He is a former quarterback that was converted to wide receiver.

“He possesses good play strength for the position and is very strong at the catch point,” Borquez wrote of Meyers last month. “He can outmuscle guys, using his hands and body control to secure the ball when it’s a little out of the strike zone.”

The Broncos already have several young receivers in Courtland Sutton, DaeSean Hamilton and Tim Patrick but the team could still use more depth at the position (especially with Emmanuel Sanders recovering from a torn Achilles). Meyers may be one of the WRs the team is considering in this year’s draft.

Meyers is projected to be selected between the third and fourth rounds of the draft, according to FullPressCoverage.com. Denver owns one third-round pick and two fourth-round picks.
