Broncos met with Kansas State OT Dalton Risner at Senior Bowl

The Denver Broncos spoke with Kansas State offensive tackle Dalton Risner after a Senior Bowl practice last month, according to Charlie Campbell of WalterFootball.com.

Risner (6-6, 308 pounds) is from Wiggins, Colorado and was named a team captain three times and earned All-American honors with the Wildcats. He can play both offensive tackle and offensive guard.

Risner has made it no secret that he would love to play for the Broncos.

“I’d love to play for any of the 32 teams — any of that would be a blessing,” Risner told Andrew Mason of DenverBroncos.com last month. “But if I got to come home to play for the Denver Broncos, man, I’d need at least a day to cry in my room. It would just be a blessing, man.”

Jared Veldheer will become a free agent this offseason so it makes sense that Denver has been looking at offensive tackles. Risner could be one of the team’s targets this spring.

Here’s what Draft Wire’s Gavino Borquez had to say about Risner last month:

At 6-foot-6 and 308 pounds, Risner possesses a well-proportioned frame. As a pass blocker, he has a combination of quickness and strength that is coveted across the NFL. He doesn’t have the best footwork, but he does well to protect his quarterback from pass rushers with good body control and hand usage.

As a run blocker, he generates movement and push with outstanding power at the point of attack. He has a nasty mentality, capable of putting players on the ground with ease.

Risner is considered the 11th-best offensive tackle in this year’s class and is projected to be selected between the third and fifth rounds, according to WalterFootball.com. Denver owns five selections between the third and fifth rounds of this year’s NFL draft.
