Broncos met with DL L.J. Collier at NFL combine

The Denver Broncos met with TCU defensive lineman L.J. Collier at the 2019 NFL combine, according to Mark Lane of Texans Wire.

Collier (6-2, 283 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.91 seconds and bench-pressed 225 pounds 25 times at the combine. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has compared him to Robert Geathers, who was a fourth-round pick in the 2004 NFL draft.

During his four years with the Horned Frogs, Collier recorded 82 tackles — including 20.5 tackles for losses — and six sacks. He earned first-team All-Big-12 honors following his senior year in 2018.

“He fits multiple schemes and might be best suited to bulk up and move inside as a sub-package rusher,” Draft Wire’s Gavino Borquez wrote of the defensive lineman in January. “Collier doesn’t have an array of pass rush moves, but his bullrush is really effective.”

It’s unclear if Collier would be a defensive end or defensive tackle in the NFL. In Denver’s 3-4 defense, he would likely play as an end.
