Broncos met with Connor McGovern (the other one) at NFL combine

The Denver Broncos have met with Connor McGovern at the NFL combine, the offensive lineman confirmed during his press conference Thursday. Confused? Allow us to explain.

The Connor McGovern attending the NFL combine this week played guard/center for Penn State and is now about to go pro. There’s another Connor McGovern on the Broncos’ roster — he played guard/center for Missouri.

They play the same position and they share the same name — just imagine the confusion if they ended up on the same team!

“When I met with the Broncos, they brought that up — that they have a Connor — they just thought that was hilarious,” the Penn State lineman said Thursday. “So probably if I ever went there [we] would have to make nicknames up or probably just have to look at the number.”

Denver selected Missouri’s version of Connor McGovern with a fifth-round pick in 2016. He has started 20 games at guard over the last two years and may be moved to center if Matt Paradis leaves during free agency.

Penn State’s version of Connor McGovern is expected to be selected between the third and fifth rounds of this year’s draft, according to Charlie Campbell of WalterFootball.com. The Broncos own eight selections in the draft this year, including four picks between the third and fifth rounds.
