Broncos met with CB Amani Oruwariye at NFL combine

The Denver Broncos met with Penn State cornerback Amani Oruwariye at the NFL combine earlier this month, according to Mark Lane of Texans Wire. That was before the team signed two cornerbacks during free agency.

Oruwariye (6-2, 205 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds and bench-pressed 225 pounds 17 times at the combine. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has compared him to Rasul Douglas, who was a third-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft.

During his four years with the Nittany Lions, Oruwariye totaled 106 tackles and eight interceptions. He also broke up 20 passes, forced one fumble and returned an interception for a touchdown.

Oruwariye is the fourth-best cornerback in this year’s class, according to Draft Wire’s Luke Easterling (view the complete rankings here).

Denver signed cornerbacks Kareem Jackson and Bryce Callahan during free agency but the team may still be looking for more depth at the position. Given that Jackson (turning 31) and Chris Harris (turning 30) are getting older, the Broncos would be wise to draft a cornerback this year.

Oruwariye may be among the cornerbacks Denver will consider.
