Broncos make 4 roster moves, land new pass rusher

After suffering a season-ending torn ACL, Denver Broncos outside linebacker Bradley Chubb is being placed on injured reserve. To fill Chubb’s spot on the 53-man roster, the team will sign outside linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu, the defender’s agency announced Tuesday.

Attaochu (6-3, 252 pounds) is a 26-year-old veteran who was born in Ibadan, Nigeria. He played high school football in Washington, D.C. and college football at Georgia Tech. He was selected by the San Diego (now Los Angeles) Chargers in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft.

Attaochu spent the first four years os his career with the Chargers, totaling 10 sacks. He spent last year with the New York Jets and recorded two sacks. Attaochu went to camp with the Kansas City Chiefs this summer but failed to make their 53-man roster in early September.

Attaochu will compete for Chubb’s old starting job. His competition will likely include Malik Reed and Justin Hollins.

Denver also claimed offensive tackle Calvin Anderson off waivers, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. Anderson (6-5, 300 pounds) is a rookie out of Texas who was recently cut by the New York Jets. He is yet to appear in a regular-season game in the NFL.

To make room for Anderson on the roster, the Broncos cut inside linebacker Keishawn Bierria. If he clears waivers, Bierria may be a candidate to return to the team on the 10-man practice squad.
