Broncos lose to Colts 15-13, drop to 2-6

The Denver Broncos lost to the Indianapolis Colts 15-13 on the road in Week 8, dropping to 2-6 on the season. Indy improved to 5-2 with the win.

Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri missed a field goal and an extra-point attempt in the game but made up for it with a game-winning field goal from 51 yards in the final minute.

It was a sloppy, uninspiring contest.

Indianapolis was penalized 10 times for 103 yards. The Broncos were flagged 10 times for 88 yards.

One of the Colts’ penalties was a pass interference call that gave Denver the ball at the four-yard line in the third quarter. Royce Freeman punched it in from there to give the Broncos a 13-3 lead. Denver wasn’t able to hold on to that lead in the fourth quarter.

Denver running back Phillip Lindsay and wide receiver Courtland Sutton were the Broncos’ top offensive players as usual, combining to gain 148 yards from scrimmage on the day.

With the loss, Denver’s chances of making the playoffs are now essentially nonexistent. Up next for the Broncos is a home game against the Browns in Week 9. That game will air on CBS.
