Broncos LB Todd Davis suffers leg injury at practice

Denver Broncos inside linebacker Todd Davis was carted off the practice field on Thursday, according to The Denver Post‘s Ryan O’Halloran. Davis went down with an apparent injury during a drill.

Davis (6-1, 230 pounds) entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Sacramento State with the New Orleans Saints in 2014. Midway through his rookie season, Davis was cut by the Saints and claimed off waivers by the Broncos.

Davis served as a rotational defender for Denver from 2014-2015 and emerged as a starter in 2016. He has totaled 444 tackles, two sacks and one interception in 85 career games.

Davis and Alexander Johnson are the top two inside linebackers on the Broncos’ depth chart. The list of players competing for the backup ILB spots includes Josey Jewell, Justin Strnad, Josh Watson, Justin Hollins and Joe Jones.

Last year, Denver carried four outside linebackers and six inside linebackers on the initial 53-man roster.

Broncos coach Vic Fangio said after practice that Davis has a leg injury but he had no further update.
