Broncos LB Todd Davis hopes to play in Week 2: ‘That’s my goal’

Broncos starting inside linebacker Todd Davis suffered a calf injury during the first day of training camp in July and missed more than a month of practice. After a lengthy recovery, Davis was back on the practice field on a limited basis Wednesday.

“It’s just been a grind,” Davis said of the last few weeks. “I’ve been working back to get back to my team. It’s frustrating not being able to be out there, but we’re working well and feeling good this week. I think the training staff has me on a good regimen and has me ready to go.”

After missing Denver’s season opener against the Raiders, Davis hopes to make his 2019 debut against the Bears in Week 2.

“That’s my goal,” he said. “I know the coaching staff has their plan for me and to make sure I’m healthy and ready to go, but my goal is to definitely be back on Sunday.”

Davis has totaled 333 tackles and two sacks since joining the Broncos’ defense in 2014. He is signed through the 2020 season.
