Broncos injury notes: Several players dinged up

The Broncos are giving Jake Butt an easy workload as he works back from a torn ACL. The tight end did not practice Sunday or Monday and the entire team has off Tuesday, so Butt gets three days of rest.

Denver also held out offensive lineman Ron Leary (Achilles) and wide receiver Juwann Winfree (leg) from practice Monday. Coach Vic Fangio indicated that both players sat out as a precaution. The team is also being cautious with linebacker Justin Hollins (hamstring).

Elsewhere on the injury front, wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders is making progress in his recovery from an Achilles injury.

“It’s a slow but sure process,” coach Vic Fangio said after practice Sunday. “He’s out here working early in practice with guys. They take him in and do some more cardio with him. That way he doesn’t have to pound on the ground.

“Everything is good so far with him. He’s where we’re expecting him to be and even a little bit more.”

There’s been no update yet on offensive guard Chaz Green, who was carted off the practice field Monday. We will post an update about Green when we learn more about the severity of his apparent injury.

Story update: Green will be fine after having a “bout of heat/hydration,” according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. That’s great news!
