Broncos injuries: Josey Jewell questionable for Week 5

Broncos cornerback Bryce Callahan (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Chargers, coach Vic Fangio announced Friday.

Elsewhere on the Broncos’ injury report, right tackle Ja’Wuan James (knee), safety Kareem Jackson (hamstring) and inside linebacker Josey Jewell (hamstring) are listed as questionable.

De’Vante Bausby will start in the place of Callahan again. Joe Jones is listed as Jewell’s backup on the team’s depth chart but this week will be his first game back from a triceps injury. If Denver wants to limit Jones’ reps in his 2019 debut, Corey Nelson will likely start if Jewell is held out.

Fangio believes Jackson will be able to play.

Fangio said Thursday that it’s “highly questionable” whether James will be able to play on Sunday. That seems to imply that James will miss another week. Elijah Wilkinson will start in his place.

If Jackson is inactive on Sunday, Will Parks will likely start at safety and Duke Dawson will likely play during nickel situations.

For the Chargers, tight end Hunter Henry (knee) has been ruled out and running back Justin Jackson (calf), safety Nasir Adderley (hamstring) and kicker Michael Badgley are listed as doubtful to play.

Elsewhere on L.A.’s injury report, defensive end Melvin Ingram (hamstring), linebacker Thomas Davis (groin), wide receiver Mike Williams (back), tight end Virgil Green (groin) and wide receiver Travis Benjamin (hip) are listed as questionable.

Sunday’s game will air on CBS at 2:05 p.m. MT (view the TV map here).
