Broncos host DL Charles Omenihu on pre-draft visit

The Denver Broncos recently hosted Texas defensive end Charles Omenihu on a pre-draft visit, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis.

Omenihu (6-5, 280 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash in 4.92 seconds and ran a 20-yard shuttle in 4.36 seconds at the combine earlier this offseason. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has compared Omenihu to Romeo Okwara, who entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the New York Giants in 2016.

During his four years with the Longhorns, Omenihu totaled 115 tackles (including 30 tackles for losses) and 16.5 sacks. He also recovered two fumbles and forced four fumbles.

Zierlein has predicted Omenihu will be selected between the fourth and fifth rounds but Klis tweeted that the defensive lineman “could be a 2nd rounder.” Denver’s second-, fourth- and fifth-round picks in this year’s draft are Nos. 41, 125, 148 and 156.

Omenihu seems to be among the d-lineman the Broncos will consider in next week’s draft. With Derek Wolfe set to become a free agent in 2020, Denver could certainly use more depth on the defensive line.
