The Denver Broncos will host Houston cornerback Isaiah Johnson on a pre-draft visit this week, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.
Johnson (6-2, 208 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds and ran a 20-yard shuttle in 4.06 seconds at the combine earlier this offseason. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has compared the speedy cornerback to Ahkello Witherspoon, who was a third-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
During his four years with the Cougars, Johnson totaled 115 tackles and four interceptions. He also broke up 12 passes.
“Although he’s raw as he’s still learning the nuances of the position, Johnson has the tools and upside to be a lethal press cornerback at the next level,” Draft Wire’s Gavino Borquez wrote last month. “Projected as a fourth rounder, the 6-foot-2 and 208 pound CB could be selected as early as the second round.”
