Broncos hopeful Bryce Callahan will be ready for training camp

After missing all of the 2019 season with complications after foot surgery, Denver Broncos cornerback Bryce Callahan is aiming to be healthy in time for the 2020 season.

Broncos general manager John Elway provided a brief update on Callahan’s status during his pre-draft Zoom conference call with reporters on Monday.

“It sounds like he’s coming along,” Elway said. “[He needs to get] out there and [run] around, feels comfortable with his foot and works through that to where hopefully he gets into a position to where is comfortable to play.

“We’re hopeful that things are coming along, and he’ll be ready by the time we get to training camp and then work back into things. We’re hoping that Bryce can come back, play this year and play the way we think he’s capable of.”

Even if Callahan is healthy in time for the season, Denver will still need another starting cornerback candidate to pair with Callahan and A.J. Bouye. Expect the Broncos to add several cornerbacks during the draft.
