Broncos have less than 1% chance to make NFL playoffs, per FiveThirtyEight

The Denver Broncos (3-6) have less than a 1% chance of reaching the 2019 NFL playoffs, according to Elo ratings from FiveThirtyEight.com.

The Elo ratings are “a measure of strength based on head-to-head results and quality of opponent to calculate teams’ chances of winning their regular-season games and advancing to and through the playoffs,” according to FiveThirtyEight’s website.

That’s a big drop from the beginning of the season, when FiveThirtyEight gave Denver a 20% chance to reach the postseason. The website now predicts the Broncos will finish the year with a 5-11 record, which would be just two more wins than they have now.

Denver has the worst chances of reaching the playoffs of the teams in the AFC West, trailing the Los Angeles Chargers (14%), Oakland Raiders (27%) and Kansas City Chiefs (88%). KC is the clear favorite to win the division (83%).

The Broncos will have a bye this week before facing the Minnesota Vikings in Week 11. Minnesota is projected to finish the year 10-6.
